Mokume Gane is an ancient japanese metalsmithing technique that results in a wood grain like finish by alternating layers of thin, colored metals and laminating the same. This was originally used for swords but now is a well known technique used in metal jewellery.
This technique is also used with polymer clay to create stunning patterns and swirls in clay that tend to be unique each time it is created. The technique involves stacking clay and applying pressure in different patterns which then causes the polymer clay to move and merge in random patterns creating intricate patterns.
